Danseys pass trail ride

The Danseys pass trail ride 2021 was my first time riding on it and it was awesome!

I rode the family and junior track, on the junior track I crashed and bent my gear shiftier but it was still so fun. The hardest part was going on the steep down hill, but I loved going in the mud on the lane towards someones cowshed. I rode with all my friends and at the end when all the tracks had closed we were all paddock racing.

I was collecting eggs from our family’s chicken farm as I usually do on weekends when I’m home and not at school. I donā€™t particularly love chickens like my parents. – ā€œ They give us eggs and provide their meat for usā€- I was feeding the chickens and was about to collect the eggs when the strangest thing happened. The rooster laid an egg but not just that It had laid a golden egg! I stared open mouthed at what I had just witnessed. I hastily tried stuffing the egg in my back jeans pocket but it was heavier than I expected.Ā

Growth mindset

I thinkĀ  a growth mindset is when you want to learn and get better. You are empowered to learn, and makes things easier when things are tricky. I work a lot better with a growth mindset.Ā  Like at Cromwell blow up water park I decided I was 100% going to jump off the 5 meter jump and the more I said I was going to do it the more confident I got. At school we were doing the IKAN 1 test I think I did a lot better when I said I was going to get more than I did last time.

Once on an ordinary autumn day, with no indication that something strangeĀ  was about to happen.

Micheal Clay and his friends were on a bike ride, but something funny happened. Any communication that any of them had simply vanished, including Micheals friends. All his friends’ bikes had stayed and had tied themselves to power poles. Micheals legs felt like jelly all of a sudden, he was lost, his friends had disappeared and he didn’t know what to do. Maybe he could untie one of the bikes? He touched the yellow bike and everything went black. He was now the bike.

That was summer

Remember that timeĀ

You were at the lakes on a scorching hot

Ā New year’s day

And you were camera person for the 9 skiers

On one boat?

That was summer

RememberĀ

When you went all the way to Riverton with your family

And you learned how to catch waves

Ā In the sea at 8:oo at night?

You were desperate to go in the morning

On the surfboard

But you didn’t think you would

Get up or do it with aĀ

Dolphin.

Remember

You were invited to a sleepover

At a friends house

And you stayed up tillĀ

3am chatting and singing

Ā With your friends

And in the morning you rode

Their horse Dusty

Ā And you learnt howĀ

To do little leaps?

Remember

When you went to Hanmer SpringsĀ

And you were scared to go

On the big slides

And when you did youĀ

Couldn’t stop leaning onĀ

Corners and screaming for joy?Ā

That was summer.

And in winter we are going skiing.

And camp at Lewis pass.

I didn’t mean to kill her- writing

I was making temporary fences for the calves that I was moving into their new paddock with my dogs Nick and Fly, on a crisp winter morning. Nick is a huntaway barking dog and Fly was a short haired collie herding dog. I didnā€™t mean to kill her.

Ā I went to change the breaks when I saw the fence was broken and all the calves were out. I got Fly to chase them, but 7 calves got spooked and galloped to the fence on the main road. I whistled and Fly stayed and held the calves where they were in the untouched frostbitten grass while I got the ones that got out. Nick helped me chase the calves back to the paddock. I felt the truck bump into something. I got the calves back , I whistled to let Fly know she could come back but she didnā€™t come, I whistled again and again.

I raced toward the place where I had felt the bump not wanting to believe it was true, but there she was barely alive in the freshly grazed grass. IĀ  scooped Fly up in my arms, swapped vehicles at the shed and raced to the vet in town, I had decided to bring Nick as well for comfort. After the race to town I reached the vet. The vet said we had to put her down, and I knew that was what we had to do but I couldnā€™t bear it. I stroked her for one last time, then the vet took her away and came back what seemed like eternity later with no Fly with her this time.

I whispered to Nick, I really didnā€™t mean to kill her.

Ā He had just broken the world record for eating the most felt pens. He was only 2 years of age when it happened, the other kids in his kindergarten through his food all over him so he had no choice but to eat felt pens. Blue, green, red and purple. He ate a total of 55 and a half felt pens and he felt really ill. He woke up the next day to find his hands blue and his feet red, his face green and his tummy was purple! Click, camera flashes everywhere he was famous for eating felt pens!
